Our history

The churches and people whose stories became St Michael and All Angels in Sarnia.

Our story spans several communities and generations. The church at Vidal and Charlotte Streets was built in 1883 as St George’s. Its stonework, stained glass, carved wood and Casavant Frères organ still shape worship here.

The churches in our story

St George’s, Sarnia

The present stone church opened in 1883 and remains our parish home. The rectory was added in 1925. See its historic photos.

St John’s, Sarnia

St John’s served Sarnia from the late nineteenth century until the 2011 amalgamation. Its people and traditions remain part of this parish’s life.

Christ Church, Corunna

Christ Church’s history reaches back to the 1860s. An archival account of its earlier years is available in the history document.

St Bartholomew’s

Founded in 1957, St Bartholomew’s joined the parish in May 2025, bringing its own ministry, community and history.

We invite parishioners with memories or photographs to help tell these stories more fully.
